Vintage Glam Meets Western:

Arianne Dora’s Eclectic Wardrobe

By Sophie Andreesen April 11, 2019

Combine Goodwill, Carrie Bradshaw’s chic New York flair and a hint of modern cowgirl, and you get Arianne Dora’s eclectic wardrobe. Her closet boasts embroidery, fur and rhinestones all neatly lined up on hot pink hangers.

When people admire her style, she simply replies, “I get it from my mom.”

Having an eye for fashion is a skill, but scouring vintage stores for the perfect piece is an instinct.

This instinct appears in every aspect of Dora’s life. She has a way of pairing orange terrycloth Nike high-tops (a mouthful) with a white tennis-inspired jumper and accessorizing with rhinestone hoop earrings; a look both unexpected yet makes total sense.

Read on to discover more about Dora’s covetable style, her inspirations and the pieces currently in her shopping cart.

Q: Where do you get style inspiration?

AD: I get a ton of inspiration from Instagram. I follow all types of accounts, from fashion houses, models, bloggers, influencers, magazines and more. My biggest style crush is Elsa Hosk!

Q: What is your favorite splurge-worthy item?

AD: My Gucci Soho Disco bag. It was the first real designer item I bought for myself with my own money. It felt like a moment of adulthood and womanhood. It’s also the perfect little bag that can be paired with everything, without being overly showy that it is designer.

Q: What trend are you most excited about this season?

AD: I love the bright color trend! Although I still tend to stick to black, white, and denim, an emphasis on pops of color always brightens my day.

Q: Who is your style icon?

AD: Priscilla Presley! I just adore that hair and makeup and her ever-changing style throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Q: What is currently your fav piece in your closet?

AD: My current favorite is a white, satin, boned bustier top I thrifted in LA over the break.

Q: What do you look for in a piece when thrift/vintage shopping?

AD: Normally, the first thing I look for is material. Once something catches my eye, whether color or material, I’ll pull it out to find out what the item even is. Looking for quality is also a major factor for me.

Q: What is the most special piece in your closet?

AD: My most special piece is probably also my Gucci bag, just since it served as a milestone for me. It’s also such a timeless silhouette that I want to keep it to gift to my daughters.

Q: What is something currently on your shopping list?

AD: A good pair of white jeans. I’m so picky about my denim, but I really need a good pair before the summer.

Q: What colors or patterns are you most drawn to?

AD: Typically, I choose pieces that are black or white because I know they’ll be so easy to mix and match and refresh, but I’m a sucker for pink or anything fuzzy!

Q: What are your favorite brands or stores?

AD: When I shop, it is mostly thrifting. I will go to really any thrift shops depending on the city. Aside from that, I love Zara, Brandy Melville, Verge Girl and For Love and Lemons.

Rapid Fire:

Q: Jeans or Dress?

AD: Jeans! I am always doing one thing or the next, and jeans are the most activity-friendly.

Q: Heels or Flats?

AD: Flats, also activity-friendly.

Q: Bags or Shoes?

AD: Shoes! I’ve been obsessed with shoes since I wore my white cowgirl boots to bed every night as a kid. Sometimes I’d swap them out with ruby slippers.

Q: Girly or Edgy?

AD: Edgy, but with a girly twist here and there.

Q: Colorful or Monochrome?

AD: Monochrome: easy to match, easy to pack on trips.

Q: Overdressed or Underdressed?

AD: Overdressed. Why not make a statement?
